FEES
My goal is to make quality legal representation available to as many people as possible. I try to keep my fees competitive without compromising on the service I provide.
Flat Fees
If you call me to discuss your case, I will tell you over the phone exactly what my fee will be for your case. I charge a flat fee for all legal work and appearances required to resolve your case short of trial. This means you won't be surprised with legal fees at some future point in your case.
Trial Fees
While the vast majority of cases are settled or resolved through plea agreements without the need for trial, in some instances it might be in your best interest to take your case to trial.
Should your case go to trial, I charge an hourly rate for time actually spent in trial. I do not charge for time spent awaiting the verdict. I don't charge for trial preparation in misdemeanor cases, however, due to the more complex nature of felony trials, I may charge an hourly fee for trial preparation as well as the actual trial.
If I think trial is advisable in your case, I will discuss it with you and answer any questions you may have. The decision, however, always rests with you.
Some attorneys who charge a flat fee may tell you that their fee includes trial if necessary. In my opinion, this arrangement provides a disincentive for the attorney to go to trial and creates a possible conflict between the client's best interest and that of the attorney. Although rare, in some situations trial is the best option. Your attorney should not have a financial incentive to steer you away from your right to a trial.
Payment Plans
If you have a job or a verifiable source of income, payment arrangements can be made in some cases to assist you in managing the cost of your legal representation. If you don't qualify for a payment plan on your own, I will accept a qualified co-signer. MasterCard and Visa are also accepted.
DWP Fees
Because of the relative ease with which most DWP cases can be resolved, I charge a flat fee of $500.00 for any DWP case. The fee remains the same even if it is a second or third time DWP. Charging you more because you may face additional penalties does not seem right to me.
